Dr. Rume Veronica Nwankpa microbiologist whose expertise bridges both human and veterinary sciences. With an academic foundation that includes a Bachelor degree in Microbiology, an Associate Degree in Medical Microbiology, an MSc in Veterinary Microbiology, and a PhD in Microbiology specializing in Virology, Dr. Rume has cultivated a deep understanding of infectious diseases and their impact across species.
Driven by a deep passion for the health of the public and commitment to reducing the burden of disease, she is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at the Simon Fraser University to strengthen her focus on human health, and promotion and the intersection with animal and environmental health using the One Health approach.
With over a decade of professional experience, Dr. Rume has worked extensively in both human and animal health sectors. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, she has contributed to critical diagnostic processes, ensuring accurate disease identification, Antimicrobial sensitivity testing and treatment. In the veterinary space, her roles as a Veterinary Research Scientist, Consultant, Virologist, Molecular Biologist, and Veterinary Vaccine Production Quality Control Scientist have played a pivotal part in advancing animal health and vaccine efficacy. Her contributions are supported by various scholarly articles.
Beyond research and laboratory work, Dr. Rume is a passionate educator, serving as a Lecturer and Tutor. Her dedication to mentorship and knowledge-sharing has inspired the next generation of scientists, equipping them with the skills needed to address complex microbiological challenges.
