Short Bio

Sandra is an equity, gender and governance specialist and political scientist with more than 20 years of international experience across development cooperation, global health, education and institutional strengthening.

Her work increasingly focuses on equity and governance in One Health, with particular interests in gender-responsive One Health approaches, health equity, neglected tropical diseases, risk communication and community engagement, and the integration of social and behavioural perspectives into health systems and preparedness. She has worked extensively on female genital schistosomiasis (FGS), including its implications for gender-transformative One Health policy and practice, and has supported capacity development for epidemiology and public health professionals on equity-sensitive outbreak preparedness and response.

Alongside her consultancy work, she teaches Political Science at university level and works on feminist and responsible AI, governance and systems change. Across her work, she is particularly interested in how One Health can move beyond multisectoral coordination towards approaches that meaningfully integrate equity, participation and social justice.
