Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Dien serves as the Co-coordinator of GREASE network (CIRAD) and National research manager of GCRF One Health Poultry Hub in Vietnam. She has completed her Ph.D in Sociology and Rural Development from Liège University, Belgium. She works as lecturer and researcher at Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Vietnam National University of Agriculture. She lead and participated several research projects on AMR surveillance, antibiotic use in aquaculture production, antibiotic supply chain, mapping chicken value chain and epidemiological significance, financial relations in chicken production, gender relations in chicken value chain…
Associate Prof. Dien Nguyen’s research has made a significant contribution to identify the socio-economic and cultural factors affecting to the disease introduction and transmission which are the foundation for the further technical research on improving disease management, especially the avian influenza and other diseases on chicken. Her research also suggested the practical and holistic solutions to improving livelihood of actors, both man and women, involved in chicken value chain to ensure sustainable and safe chicken production and distribution. Her work has contributed to the interdisciplinary research, not only the scope of study but also the application of the social sciences’ tools and methods in understanding and analyzing the health issues.
