Short Bio
My name is Maren Jeleff, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Medical University of Vienna
(Center for Public Health) and freelance conceptual photographer.
My research interests and experience lie at the intersection of social science, art, and health
research. My work examines how technological, social, and environmental systems shape
health and inequality, from the deconstruction of medical technologies such as dialysis, to the
digitalization of prevention, infectious disease policy, and the health impacts of microplastics.
Using qualitative and artistic methods, I explore how humans engage with technology and the
environment, and how these relationships reveal the social and structural dimensions of public
health. My goal is to contribute to more sustainable and socially aware approaches to health and prevention.
With a background in qualitative social science research, I aim to complement data-driven
approaches by uncovering the why and how behind observed patterns.
