Short Bio
A Lecturer in Medical Microbiology in the Department of Human Pathology at the College of Health Sciences, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Gained research experience working as a Sub-investigator in studies supportive towards HIV vaccines whilst also trying to understand factors perpetuating HIV acquisition such as STIs, with particular focus on marginalized communities.
Her main research interests are in Antimicrobial resistance and the factors driving this emerging epidemic with a one health approach. Further to that she is also interested in pursuing other options such as bacteriophages, probiotics and prebiotics for therapeutic use in lieu of or in combination with antibiotics. Apart from research and teaching she also mentors university students in the background of the current intergenerational challenges and changing life and societal expectations on the springboard of technological advancements and social media influence
