Short Bio
I am an Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University, where I also oversee the Rabies Laboratory as the Section Head. I had many years of experience as a regulatory veterinary official for the government of Trinidad and Tobago, where I gained essential knowledge and skills in zoonotic disease surveillance and control, port health and trade in animals and animal products. My interest in public health led me to research the epidemiology of rabies viruses in Trinidad and later to investigate the influence of island to continent bat movement as it pertains to bat viruses and the epidemiology of rabies in the Caribbean region. I aim to promote the global implementation of evidence-based programs and policies on rabies control developed within the context of One Health. In my current role I also hope to contribute to the progression of diagnostic and medical advancements in the field of rabies through creative thinking and investigative research.
