Short Bio
Currently, Dr. Hanan Mahmoud is an associate professor of Medical Parasitology at Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt and the academic director of "Clinical Nutrition" course for undergraduate medical students at Faculty of Medicine, Modern University for Technology and information, Cairo, Egypt. In December 2006, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBBCh), excellence with honor rank, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University. Since June 2008, she started to work in the laboratory diagnosis of parasitic diseases as one of the three pillars of her academic work, along with research and medical education. During her MD, she started to work on the molecular epidemiology of parasitic diseases, where she attained introductory work experience in genomics at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, Germany. By April 2016, she had obtained her MD in medical parasitology (major), microbiology, and immunology (subsidiary). Since then, she has been putting in a lot of effort to strengthen her knowledge within the field of "global health". In 2019, she obtained a professional diploma in "Clinical Nutrition" from the National Nutrition Institute, Cairo, Egypt. Currently, she is seeking a master's degree in " tropical medicine and global health". Her research interests include tropical diseases and global health, laboratory diagnosis of parasitic diseases, infectious diseases epidemiology, clinical nutrition, and medical education.
