Short Bio
As a professor at SHSPH at Faculty Health Sciences, University of Pretoria and also Faculty of Agriculture( Section Epidemiology) at UNISA; and Emeritus at Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria, my current research interests are One Health, Food safety and security, Zoonoses, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Systems and Academic editing. I am a weekly columnist for Farmers Weekly Magazine, in Southern Africa. Research methods used: qualitative and quantitative, including risk assessment, hazard analysis, socioeconomics and rural development. I mentor post-graduate students at UP and UNISA. Other interests are animal behavior, promotion of animal welfare and veterinary public health. I ride and breed stud horses and am a rural veterinary practitioner.
