Short Bio
Berhe Mekonnen Mengistu holds a doctor’s degree in veterinary medicine from Addis Ababa University and a master’s degree in clinical veterinary medicine from Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, China. He is currently pursuing his PhD studies in Tropical Animal Health and Economics, working on dissertation research entitled “Enhancing Poultry Contributions Towards Household Livelihood and Nutritional Security through Innovative Poultry Healthcare and Feeding Practices”. Dr. Berhe is an Assistant Professor in the College of Veterinary Sciences at Mekelle University. Dr. Berhe’s research interest centers around poultry healthcare, veterinary services, feed, and feeding practices using local valuable ingredients. He is interested in investigating the socio-economic foundations of poverty alleviation, food and nutrition security and the role of poultry production in alleviating them. He recently served as principal investigator for a project that investigated practical challenges of poultry business in which he and his team formulated poultry healthcare packages for the Tigray region.
