Dr. Abhishek Thakkar is an accomplished public health professional with a strong focus on global health security, One Health, and climate change. Currently serving as a Senior Technical Officer – Strategy, Partnerships & Climate at Jhpiego (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University), he has led and supported strategic planning and proposal design efforts across multiple regions, including South-East Asia, Eastern Africa, and Western Africa.
Dr. Thakkar has extensive experience fostering partnerships, overseeing multi-country projects, and developing geospatial vulnerability tools like the Climate Health Vulnerability Atlas. His contributions in One Health span across AMR, pandemic preparedness, and zoonoses, having supported projects such as hackathons and capacity mapping in India, Nigeria, the Philippines, and Mozambique.
With a diverse background in both clinical and public health sectors, Dr. Thakkar is passionate about driving gender equity, inclusivity, and empowerment within One Health frameworks.
